Todd Horton, PE, PLS, is in his twenty-third year of teaching at Parkland College, a community college in Champaign, IL. At Parkland, he serves as the Construction Management program director and supports the Land Surveying programs which he started in 2001. Todd is a member of the Illinois Professional Land Surveyors Association and the Illinois Society of Professional Engineers. Over the years, he has hosted Surveying merit badge clinics for the Boy Scouts, trained high school agriculture teachers in basic leveling, proctored Certified Survey Technician exams, mentored young surveyors, expanded surveying education opportunities in Illinois, and assisted in developing the surveying technician apprenticeship program in Illinois. The Illinois Professional Land Surveyors Association honored Todd with the Carter Jenkins Distinguished Service Award in 2015. As the owner of Meridian Geospatial Consulting LLC, he has presented continuing education seminars in 42 states. Todd looks forward to helping the land surveying profession train the next generation of surveying and mapping technicians.
