Dr. Samuel YC Essah is Associate Professor and Extension Specialist at Colorado State University, Department of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture, San Luis Valley Research Center, U.S.A. Samuel Essah is the head of the Potato Management and Whole Plant Physiology Program at the San Luis Valley Research Center, and conducts research to develop cultural management guidelines for the successful, sustainable, and economic production of potato cultivars, which optimize their genetic potential, while minimizing economic input and environmental degradation.
Samuel was a Postdoctoral Research Scholar at the USDA-ARS Plant, Soil, and Water Research Lab in Orono, Maine, before joining Colorado State University in 2002.
Samuel Essah has been a member of the Potato Association of America (PAA) since February 2000. He was chair of Frank L. Haynes Graduate Student Research Competition Award Committee from 2010 to 2013, and Director of PAA from 2013 to 2016. He was Senior Editor for the Extension, Production and Management section of American Journal of Potato Research from 2010 to 2018.
Samuel is currently Editor-in-Chief of the American Journal of Potato Research.
