Speaker Bio
Joanna is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow working with Dr. Louise-Marie Dandurand, a director of University of Idaho Pale Cyst Nematode Project. Her current research interest focuses on molecular characterization of effectors used by the pale cyst nematode (Globodera pallida) to promote parasitism and an impact of root exudates from different plants on nematode virulence.
Joanna received her M.Sc. in Immunology from Maria-Curie Sklodowska University in Poland (2011) where she worked on the impact of monoterpenes from essential oils on colon cancer cells. She then earned her Ph.D. in Plant Science at the University of Idaho, US (2017) investigating the dynamics of defense signaling network in tomato upon the bacterial infection.
