Jayesh is the President and Managing Attorney at Street Democracy, where he serves as Counsel for the Street Outreach Court Detroit—a program where efforts to address the root causes of one’s homelessness or offending behavior are accepted as payment in lieu of fines and jail time—and as lead for its Opportunity Works project, a broader effort to bring replacement punitive controls with functional approaches to behavior modification in criminal justice and adjacent systems. Jayesh also currently serves as Chair of the ABA Commission on Homelessness and Poverty, on the lawyers committee of the ACLU of Michigan, and as a director of 482Forward, a Detroit parent-student advocacy organization.
