Name
Increasing Housing Access for Michiganders with Conviction Histories
Description
Housing stability is a key factor in successful reentry. However, for many Michiganders looking to rebuild their lives after arrest or incarceration, and for the nearly three million people in Michigan with some type of conviction history, home is elusive. Those with conviction histories face immense barriers to accessing safe and stable housing, leading to the prison-to-homelessness pipeline. Learn about the programs and policies which seek to eliminate these barriers and increase access to housing for Michiganders with conviction histories. Policies and programs outlined will include recent, important changes from HUD for public housing access, MDOC's Offender Success program, and the proposed Fair Chance Access to Housing Act.
