This interactive workshop invites participants “learn by doing” as they participate in a scenario-based planning mini workshop to explore four plausible futures for IASP set in the year 2040. Using a 2×2 matrix grounded in two critical uncertainties - the evolution of strategy practice and IASP’s value proposition - participants will immerse themselves in quick, creative scenario thinking and discuss implications for IASP’s strategic direction and professional community.
Session Description
In alignment with the 2026 IASP Global Conference theme, Leading Transformation with Momentum, this hands-on “learn by doing” master class empowers participants to look beyond today’s challenges and explore the future of the strategy profession itself. Through an immersive scenario-based planning workshop, participants will examine four plausible futures for the International Association for Strategy Professionals (IASP) in the year 2040. Using two critical uncertainties - the evolution of strategy practice (Human-Centered vs. AI-Augmented) and IASP’s value proposition (Certification-Centric vs. Thought-Leadership Hub) - participants will envision how different pathways of transformation could unfold for the association and its members.
In collaborative small groups, participants will map opportunities, challenges, and focus areas for each future. The session models how foresight can build organizational momentum by helping leaders anticipate change, not just react to it. The workshop concludes with group “out-briefs” where participants share synthesized insights and recommendations for how IASP can continue to lead transformation in the strategy profession with clarity, agility, and purpose. After the workshop, the facilitators will analyze the output, and then later team with the IASP President to present findings via a 10 -15 minute outbrief to plenary.
