Description

In a world defined by geopolitical uncertainty, technological acceleration and economic instability, strategy professionals are challenged not just to anticipate disruption, but to design frameworks to help organizations survive and thrive within it. This session examines how organizations can future-proof their success with a foresight-driven strategy that turns volatility into opportunity and equips leaders to anticipate and prepare for diverse future scenarios. This session draws inspiration from the VUCA model, a framework describing the volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity that characterizes today’s global landscape. In a VUCA world, traditional strategic models are no longer sufficient. Strategic planning today must go beyond static, annual cycles, toward a proactive forward-looking process that aligns corporate needs with broader business, economic and societal shifts. The military terms this a kinetic environment. When this planning is done effectively, it helps leaders anticipate change, minimize disruptions and create a more agile, resilient organization capable of responding to complex global challenges. Mr. Leeb will call on examples from his 30+ years’ experience in the government, corporate and non-profit space to demonstrate the value of scenario-planning and other foresight tools that allow leaders to test strategic assumptions and prepare for multiple potential futures. Through the discovery process, organizations will uncover vulnerabilities, identify emerging opportunities and strengthen flexibility. Using immersive “what-if” narratives and horizon scanning, he will demonstrate how this framework helps leaders move from reactive to proactive thinking, embedding foresight into the core of strategic decision making.
