Description

How do you create an organization that is ‘strategy capable’ for the ‘right now’ world – responsive, adaptive, flexible, engaged, and able to consider and deal with the opportunities, risks and uncertainties of the future?    How do you develop a dynamic approach to strategy? What are the key elements to consider? What strategic capabilities do you need, and how do you develop these? What do you need to build into your strategic management processes? How do you engage and enthuse?     In this session we will look at some of the ‘building blocks’ that organizational leaders need to consider in developing such an organization, drawing on practical examples and the ideas of leading strategy and organizational development thinkers, extending this beyond the process of developing and executing a strategic plan.

How does this session align with the conference theme "Strategy in a 'Right Now' World" and topic areas
These are uncertain times, and organizations need a more dynamic approach to strategic planning: it cannot be just the ‘traditional’ linear approach of a one-off project resulting in implementing a 3 year plan. Organizations need to be able to consider different futures, and anticipate and take advantage of changes and opportunities, rather than just react to them – and learn how to deal with the uncertainties and risks. What do organizational leaders need to consider to help their organizations develop a dynamic approach to strategy and strengthen their organization’s ability to succeed?
