Ann Arbor is consistently rated as one of the most livable cities in America, but also has one of the highest income gaps, disproportionately burdening low to moderate income households. Fewer than 100 affordable units were built in Ann Arbor over the last five years despite ambitious policy and zoning changes. To signal a committed civic shift, the City facilitated a series of hybrid engagement sessions for seven publicly-owned, contentious downtown sites to develop approximately 500 affordable units. Hear about the pros and cons of this community-driven data-informed process and cross-departmental collaboration leading to action. Speakers: Brett Lenart, City of Ann Arbor; Jennifer Hall, Ann Arbor Housing Commission; Michael Johnson, SmithGroup
