Description

This session will explore improvisation, composition, and creative writing approaches as assessments in instrumental music. Participants will share assessment strategies that utilize creative musical activities from their own ensemble rehearsals. Presenter will connect these strategies to instrumental repertoire.

Learning Objective 1
Attendees will learn how the Comprehensive Musicianship through Performance (CMP) model functions within an instrumental music ensemble, particularly in developing assessment and outcome strategies.
Learning Objective 2
Attendees will discover creative approaches for individual as well as ensemble assessment, including incorporating improvisation, composition, and creative writing projects into their curriculum.
Learning Objective 3
Attendees will share affective, skill, and knowledge outcomes and assessments from repertoire examples provided in this session.
