Megan Carnevale is a K-8 general music teacher in the Detroit Public Schools Community District. Megan received her Bachelor's of Music in Music Education from Michigan State University in 2013 and completed her Master's degree in Music Education from Michigan State University this past summer. Megan's teaching and research interests focus on culturally responsive, creative, and vernacular musicianship practices; and she frequently writes and presents on these topics. Megan plays (and teaches) ukulele and guitar, is a songwriter, and participates in several community-based choruses in Detroit. Megan currently serves as the secretary for the Michigan chapter of the Gordon Institute for Music Learning and is a member of both the GIML Membership Commission and the MMEA Professional Development committee.
