Speaker Bio
Jan-Juba Arway is the community ambassador for the North Side of Syracuse. She is a former refugee who fled South Sudan with her family to Egypt, eventually moving to the U.S. and settling down in Arizona and Syracuse. Arway has been doing community work for the majority of her career and is now a community ambassador for the north side of Syracuse. She feels that because others used their time to help her during her transition, she should do the same in return. She began doing community work in Arizona and has continued doing so here in Syracuse, where she has been working for the past six years assisting others in her community. Community members would describe her as tough, ambitious, and compassionate. She wants her community to know she is determined to help them regardless of any obstacles.
