Bonita Harrison the Chief Executive Officer and lead developer of Sunshine Management and Owner of KBM Realty. Bonita is a proud Chicagoan, born and raised on the South Side of
Chicago. Bonita obtained a Bachelors of Science in Mathematics from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and was awarded a full ride scholarship for a Masters of Science in Mathematics. Her team has developed more than 600 units on the South Side of Chicago, creating more than 2,000 jobs for local businesses of color, aging citizens, returning citizens, and women owned businesses. She created more than $150M of Wealth in the Black community, and $1.5M in annual tax revenue. She is committed to revitalizing distressed, outdated and underperforming properties in communities of color.
She spearheaded a group of 5 black developers to “Buy Back the Block’” in the West Woodlawn community, a community that has experienced decades of disinvestment, this initiative received mass news coverage because of its impact to the community and black culture. She was the 1st Woman and the 1st Black person to be recognized by The Cook County Land Bank as the Developer of the Year in 2018, and has went on to receive countless awards and news coverage from Crains Magazine, the front page of Chicago Suntimes Real Estate section, NBC, ABC, Telemundo, WGN, WBEZ, CBS, Chicago Urban League, and countless others for her impact in the Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) communities. She is passionate about bridging the equity gap in BIPOC communities, she started her entire family into development, including her 25 year old daughter; community as a whole, tradesmen and dentist, are all currently real estate developers. Collaboration is the fundamental blueprint to her success.
Bonita also served as the Board Treasurer for the UIC Black Alumni Chapter for 4 years.
