Too often, employment and housing supports are siloed and disconnected, even though many unhoused people want and need to work. Join this session to learn about a successful Detroit partnership that addresses employment and housing supports. Detroit at Work, Detroit’s workforce development system, and CAM Detroit, the coordinated entry system for homelessness services, began partnering to identify better ways to serve their shared customers. This partnership started with candid dialogue and trust-building and has led to multiple data sharing efforts and a more robust referral process between the systems. This session will discuss the benefits of cross-systems collaboration, and lessons learned along the way that attendees can apply to creating connections between the workforce and homeless systems in their communities.
