In 1988, the Michigan Legislature banned local governments from enacting rent control, leading to increasing unaffordability and eviction, instability, and homelessness. Rent stabilization – which exists in 10 states – is a vital tool to protect tenants and stabilize our communities. We will learn how to bring these advantages to Michiganders.
