James Pappas is currently president of Fusco, Shaffer & Pappas, Inc. Architects and Planners. He joined the firm in 1984 as a staff architect, became vice president in 1989 and in 1997 moved to the role of president. As president, he has developed a mission statement in which the firm’s philosophy is to provide each and every client a personal working relationship with the principals of the firm from the inception of a client’s goals, through construction and occupancy.
Jim’s professional affiliations include membership with the American Institute of Architects (AIA), The Michigan Society of Architects (MSA), The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), International Code Council (ICC), as well as the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).
As an alumnus of Lawrence Technological University, Jim holds both a Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture and a Bachelor of Architecture degree. He has been registered as an architect since 1981, and is currently registered to practice Architecture in 19 states. Additionally, he has held a National Council of Architectural Registration Boards Certificate (NCARB) since 1989. Jim is also a Qualified Historical Architect by the Michigan State Historic Preservation Office.
Jessica Pappas is the Director of Marketing at Fusco, Shaffer & Pappas, Inc., Architects and Planners (FSP). With eight years at the firm, she leads business development initiatives, brand management, and marketing strategy. FSP specializes in designing innovative spaces for both non-profit and for-profit organizations, including supportive housing, emergency shelters, youth transitional housing, and senior living communities.
Jessica Pappas also serves as President of Pappas Consulting Group (PCG), a Michigan-based firm dedicated to helping mission-driven organizations create safe, functional spaces for their programs and services. She partners with organizations to assess their readiness for growth, guiding the development of housing projects, community spaces and program facilities. Additionally, Jessica provides strategic marketing and public relations consulting to mission-based organizations.
Jessica is deeply committed to serving communities and supporting social justice. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for Matrix Theatre Company, a social justice theatre in Southwest Detroit, where she has been a board member for over a decade. Jessica holds a Master of Science in Administration from Central Michigan University, along with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Central Michigan University.
