Janet M. Hunko serves as Director of the Housing Bureau for Seniors (HBS), a program within Community Health Services at University of Michigan Health. In her role, she oversees three core programs: Housing Counseling, Elderly Eviction Prevention, and Foreclosure Prevention, all designed to support housing stability and promote well-being among older adults.

In addition to her leadership work, Janet is a Part-Time Lecturer at the Eastern Michigan University School of Social Work, where she teaches courses including Working with Aging People and the graduate-level social work practicum seminar.

Janet is deeply engaged in regional aging and social work initiatives. She serves as Washtenaw County Co-Chair of the Geriatric Social Workers of Southeast Michigan and Co-Chair of the Washtenaw Health Initiative Healthy Aging Collaborative in Washtenaw County. She is also a former board member of the National Shared Housing Resource Center and MiGen (formerly SAGE Metro Detroit).
