Kevin A. Watkins M.B.A. is a seasoned banking professional with more than 20 years of experience in Personal and Business Finance, Wealth Management, Sales Leadership and Community Development. He currently serves as the Michigan External Affairs Manager & National African American Business Development Manager at Comerica Bank.

In his role, Kevin leads Comerica’s external affairs initiatives across Michigan, cultivating strategic relationships with community, civic and government leaders as well as nonprofit organizations. Nationally, he spearheads Comerica’s engagement with African American business leaders, entrepreneurs and communities, advancing he bank’s commitment to equitable economic development and inclusive growth across its markets. Kevin oversees programs under the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA), managing community investments and financial education programs such as Comerica Business Sense, Money Sense and Sports Sense. He provides counsel to the Market President on key external affairs matters and plays a critical role in aligning Comerica’s social impact initiatives with broader business and community development strategies.

Kevin began his career at Comerica in 2005 as a Management Trainee and has advanced through a series of leadership positions, including Assistant Banking Center Manager, Licensed Financial Specialist and Banking Center Manager at multiple locations. Most recently, he served as Vice President/Banking Center Manager of the Ford Rd. - Beech Daly Banking Center in Dearborn Heights, Michigan where he successfully managed a total deposit portfolio of approximately $260 Million. Throughout his tenure, Kevin has been recognized for exceptional leadership and performance, earning multiple awards for excellence in sales and service. Notably, he achieved Top Performer recognition at every Banking Center he managed.

Kevin earned both his Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) and Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) degrees from Eastern Michigan University. He has been a leading advocate for expanding access and opportunity, previously serving as Co-Chair of the African American Business Resource Group at Comerica Bank.

Beyond his professional responsibilities, Kevin is passionate about community empowerment and economic mobility. He has served on the Boards of the Black Caucus Foundation of Michigan and the Joy-Southfield Community Development Corporation, mentored youth through the Real Life 101 Scholarship Fund and volunteered with Operation Hope’s Banking on Our Future to promote financial literacy among students.
