Jake is responsible for developing and implementing the City of Muskegon’s overall economic development strategy, including all of the city’s infill housing initiatives. As Director of Development Services, he is part of the Senior Leadership Team in the City of Muskegon and oversees the Planning, Economic Development, and Community and Neighborhood Services Departments. His team of 20 oversee all business retention, expansion, and attraction programming, all zoning and site plan review, coordination with construction code compliance, and Community Development Block Grant and HOME programming, along with other localized assistance programs in the city. During Jake’s tenure as division head, the City of Muskegon Development Services Team has been at the forefront of housing innovations, zoning reform, and Brownfield project completions in the State of Michigan. Jake’s background is in city management, and he has a long track record of creating an investment-friendly environment in communities he serves with a focus on equity-based development. He lives in downtown Muskegon with his wife Kate and their three daughters.
