How do you create in a large group? Improvisation! Warm up and develop aural skills at the same time? Improvisation! Get the repetition to develop technique but not become bored? Improvisation! Beginning band, orchestra, or classroom recorders, improvisation is an invaluable tool that not enough of us rely on. No jazz necessary! We will explore methods to teach it; ways it can help students to develop aural, technical, and analytical skills; and resources to keep it fresh.

This session will be hands-on and attendees are encouraged to bring an instrument to use as we play and sing improvisation activities.
