Our field has spent decades responding after homes fail. But what would it take to intervene at scale before failure becomes vacancy? 

This plenary reframes home repair as one of the most urgent and underbuilt parts of the housing preservation agenda. It will show why repair need is growing, why private markets do not solve the problem in many communities, what it takes to deliver repair at scale, and how local leaders can move home repair from isolated programs to durable public and civic infrastructure. 

Following an introduction from Allegheny County Executive Sara Innamorato and remarks from Mayor Corey O'Connor, you will hear from the nation's top experts on property reuse and home repair, including: Senior Fellow Alan Mallach (Center for Community Progress); Executive Director Ian Benniston (Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corporation); State Senator Nikil Saval (PA-1st District); and Chief Program Officer Danielle Lewinski (Center for Community Progress)
