Ken is a Philadelphia-based entrepreneur and real estate developer, serving as President of Philly Office Retail. Over 38 years, his company has renovated more than 300 vacant properties and now manages more than 800,000 square feet of commercial and residential space. His work has earned nine Preservation Alliance Awards for adaptive reuse projects.
Ken currently serves as Chair of the Mt. Airy Business Improvement District which he co-founded in 2007 and in 2023, Ken was appointed to the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission (PHMC) by Governor Josh Shapiro. He previously served on the Board of the Philadelphia Housing Development Corporation (PHDC), as a Mayoral appointee, from 2008-2017 and as its Chair for 13 years.
In 2015, Ken founded Jumpstart Germantown, an award-winning program that empowers local residents to revitalize their neighborhoods through real estate development. Now with 25 programs nationwide, Jumpstart has trained over 3,000 mentees and Jumpstart Philly has provided more than $65 million in loans.
Ken regularly lectures on real estate development and social impact investing, having taught at the University of Pennsylvania’s Fels Institute of Government. He has received numerous community and business awards for his contributions to Philadelphia’s economic and social landscape.
Ken lives in Mt. Airy with his wife, Judy, and enjoys playing pickleball and table tennis. They have three children: Noah, a musician based in Los Angeles; Ellie, an inventor in Philadelphia; and Ari, who developed two software applications and sold them to Apple and Open AI, where he currently works.
