Full Name
Michelle Thom
Speaker Bio
Michelle Thom is a professional bean counter turned operations guru, who keeps the small business end of New Kensington running smoothly. A literal woman of action, she holds an AS in Computer Business Administration alongside a BS and MBA in Accounting, meaning she can balance a spreadsheet while managing a major construction site or pouring a craft beer without breaking a sweat.
Originally from England, Michelle spent eight years in Germany and another eight in California learning how to survive vastly different climates before finally anchoring herself in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. Her current professional strategy appears to be collecting high-level job titles like Pokémon cards. She actively splits her 24-hour day serving as the Operations Manager for Olde Towne Overhaul, Property Manager for Deer Creek Rentals, General Manager for Voodoo Brewing New Kensington, and President of the New Ken Downtown Partnership.
However, her main role is serving as the CFO and Construction Project Manager for Mito Insulation Company, expertly steering massive Multi-Family projects up and down the East Coast. And, because five demanding jobs apparently weren't enough to exhaust her, she also operates as the Market Manager for the Downtown New Kensington Farmers Market, channeling her inner philanthropist to bring fresh food directly into the community.
When she isn’t managing local revitalization or balancing multiple corporate budgets, Michelle prefers to spend her free time in high-stress, low-oxygen environments—specifically skydiving through the clouds or cave diving deep underwater. She is currently looking for a seventh and eighth job, mostly because she finds sleep to be an inefficient use of her time.
