Jason Rigone has served as the Executive Director of the Westmoreland County Industrial Development Corporation (WCIDC) and the Director of the Westmoreland County Department of Planning & Development since August 2011. Employed with the WCIDC for the past 26 years, Jason brings over 30 years of experience in the economic development, urban planning and community development fields.
Over the past 15 years under Jason’s leadership, the WCIDC continued its 40+year mission of investing and preparing industrial/business parks and redeveloping key sites to spur investment and economic growth in the industrial market.
In addition to serving as the WCIDC Executive Director, Jason also serves as the Director for the Department of Planning and Development has manages numerous federally funded programs to support community investment and drafted and approved the cutting edge - Reimagining Our Westmoreland plan. This countywide comprehensive plan focuses to drive growth through innovative methods, increasing investment in technology-based solutions, and creating communities focused on “people” based assets and experiences. Most recently, the department took a leadership role and launched the Westmoreland Broadband initiative to ensure all county residents and businesses have high speed internet access.
In addition to his current position, Jason has served on the board of numerous county, regional and state organizations such as the Westmoreland County Chamber of Commerce, the Economic Growth Connection of Westmoreland, Catalyst Connection, Penn State New Kensington, and the Westmoreland/Fayette Workforce Development Board.
Jason graduated from the Pennsylvania State University in 1995 with a B.S. in Geography. He earned his degree with an emphasis in Urban and Regional Planning and a minor in Business Logistics.
