Description
Supporting new music teachers is a central component of thriving music programs. This session is intended to provide seasoned educators, cooperating teachers for student teachers, new teacher mentors, or new teachers dedicated time to learn about/optimize how to communicate, connect, plan, and identify evidence of mentee learning to support new teachers.

Session attendees will identify characteristics of new teachers as adult learners through discussing and collaborating with fellow attendees.

Session attendees will review and discuss key observations strategies and approaches that work well for supporting new music mentees.

Session attendees will gather information about the challenges, rewards, and benefits of various mentoring environments used formally and informally within music education.
