*Promoting a Gender-Inclusive Environment in Elementary General Music

-

Description
Think gender doesn’t matter in elementary school? Think again! Whether we realize it or not, how we think about gender has significant effects on our actions and interactions with others, which in turn affect students’ experiences in the music classroom. This session will examine issues of gender, including stereotypes in music and other negative effects, and will suggest ways elementary music teachers can build a more gender-inclusive environment so that all students have a positive experience.
