Tune A Fish: Teaching Independent Tuning in the Beginning and Middle School Orchestra

Saturday, January 30, 2021
3:00 PM - 3:45 PM

Description
Teaching young students to tune does not need to be overwhelming or dull. In this session, participants will learn about successful strategies to teach young string players to tune using a reference tone, open fifths, and (for bassists) harmonics. A wide variety of tools will be demonstrated, including applications, tuners, and games. The Riley Street Middle School 8th Grade Orchestra will be on hand to demonstrate the implementation of these techniques. Join us to Tune A Fish!
