Description
Bowing technique is a crucial foundational skill in string playing. Establishing good fundamental bow strokes, with tension free motions and solid bow choreography, creates beautiful tone quality and forms the basis for musical style. This chapter will explore methods of teaching bow strokes and choreography in group settings from beginning through intermediate levels. Basic principles of approaching any new or difficult bowing will be presented, followed by a sequential progression of bowings that will assist in building a solid foundation in a systematic and organized way.
