Description
This session will apply the bass playing principles of Gary Karr to beginning bass pedagogy. This tone centered approach will present methods for establishing effective posture, bow hold, and left hand mechanics with a focus on defining weight relationships in each.

Learning Objective 1
Attendees will be able to define weight relationships using the terms "push" and "pull" to describe contact point with the bass in standing bass posture.
Learning Objective 2
Attendees will be able to identify which muscle groups are responsible for the work defined in Learner Outcome 1.
Learning Objective 3
Attendees will gain strategies for teaching the above concepts to beginning students through games.
