Kate Fitzpatrick

Dr. Kate Fitzpatrick, Associate Professor of Music Education at the University of Michigan, is a former urban music teacher and college band director, and serves as a frequent band clinician and guest conductor. She is the author of the 2015 book, “Urban Music Education: A Practical Guide for Teachers,” and is a prolific researcher, currently serving on the editorial board of the Journal of Research in Music Education. Dr. Fitzpatrick is the recipient of the 2003 God and Country Award, presented for her “outstanding, sensitive leadership of young people.”
