Andrew McGuire currently serves the students in Detroit Public Schools Community District as the Assistant Director of Fine and Performing
Arts. Born and raised in southeast Michigan and having taught for a decade in some of our nation's largest public school districts, New York City, Chicago and Detroit, he is thrilled to continue the legacy work of ensuring our students’ rise here at home. Andrew's students performed in rock bands across the Chicagoland area as well as made considerable social change globally through their partners at A Better Life for Kids and
German sister school Gymnasium Altona.
Mr. McGuire is the recipient of a Country Music Award Foundation Music Educator of Excellence award in 2018 and his writings can be found in Music Education journals such as Arts Education Policy Review and the Illinois Music Educator's Journal. Mr. McGuire holds a bachelors and masters degree in Music Education from the University of Michigan and a masters in Educational Leadership from the American College of Education.
